Connect with a MacBook

Where equipped, Apple TVs make it possible to connect your device to the LCD projector wirelessly!  This means that you don't have to be up next to the projector cart at all times in order to use it; you can set your device down and move around the room as much as you need to!  In fact, the Apple TV now makes it possible for students to connect their devices to the projector, right from their own desks or tables!  That means a new level of sharing, with more convenience and more access for students than ever before.

Apple TVs are compatible with MacBooks and iPads.  Because our MacBooks at the elementary level are a little older, there's an additional piece of software that we need in order to connect, called AirParrot.  You can find AirParrot by clicking on your Applications folder in the dock (the folder with the "A" on it).  The folder organizes alphabetically, so you should find AirParrot right at the top.

You will know if the program is already on by looking at the menu bar at the top of your screen.  There should be a black and white  AirParrot icon there.

To use AirParrot, click on this icon.  In the drop-down menu, it should give you a listing of every Apple TV device on the network.  The Apple TV's are all named for the carts that they reside on.  Select the Apple TV you want to connect to.

The Apple TVs use a simple passcode system so that you don't connect to an Apple TV that you can't see in front of you.  When you select the Apple TV you want to use, the passcode will show up on the projector; simply type the passcode into the box that shows up on your computer.

What appears on your computer.  Don't save the
password; it changes every time you go to connect.
What appears on the projector screen.

That's about it; once you've entered your passcode, you should see the projector go black real quick, then start mirroring your computer screen!

The parrot icon in the top menu bar will turn green when you've connected successfully.

To disconnect, go back to the AirParrot icon, and click on the Apple TV you are currently connected to.
